: The first batch of soap I made (palm, coconut, olive + shea butter + lavender eo) was beautiful, the color of alabaster, it smelled great, it traced correctly ... perfect pH.

: My second batch is a disaster (palm, coconut, olive + cocoa butter + shea butter), I started it at 10 a.m. PST on Sunday, it wouldn't trace to save my life, I finally put it in the mold and hoped for the best, after 30 hours it has started to gel but has become translucent and gelatinous. I didn't add color or fragrance because I wanted a "natural" bar. Should I just maintain a vigil or is all lost?

If you used the correct amount of lye it should in theory eventually set up. The two recipes look very close to each other so if one worked the other should as well. I blend mine to get them to trace quicker.
