I prefer a regular blender. I put the ingredients in, cover the blender with a towel for safety and blend on low. When it starts to trace I add any extras, blend some more and pour into molds. A stick blender will also work but I am always afraid of splattering the solution.
As far as converting recipes I created a spreadsheet that converts any recipe you put into it to a blender sized formula. It is really very handy. The link at the top of the main discussion board page tells more about the program. Good luck with your soapmaking.
: I have heard of making soap in a blender but have never tried it. Is a stick blender just as good or is a regular blender better? Does the lye hurt the blender? Last question. If I have a recipe that I like but it is too big how do I cut it down so that the final mix will fit inside my blender? Thanks,
