I am taking some middle school students to the Sea of Cortez to an Indian village and want to know if anyone has a recipe for making soap from scratch using carbonates from seaweed and a natural oil such as animal fat. The village has limited, if any running drinking water and it is in the Sonoran Desert and on the seacoast. We want to find a recipe that the villagers will be able to duplicate with materials from their surroundings.
